Michael Westcott

Michael Westcott is the oldest of the three Westcott Band Brothers and makes his home in Rockville, Maryland. A native of Washington, DC, Mike grew up around the DC music scene. Michael was exposed to performing musically at an early age thanks to his parents who played in a variety band while Michael was growing up.

Michael started his musical training with Piano lessons at the age of 10. Soon after, he found that he loved to play the Guitar, and taught himself how to play thanks to supporting parent's, a few chord charts, and tips from family and friends.

Michael played both the Saxophone (bari, tenor, alto), and the String Bass (upright, electric) in an award wining Jazz Ensemble during Junior High School, which repeatedly won contests against High School-level Jazz groups. Mike was also in a rock cover band that played at a few of his Junior High School dances, along with countless parties. During Mike's High School days he played with the Heavy Metal band "Taken By Force" recording one release, "The Reality of Success."

After settling down to family life, Mike found his musical tastes maturing and taking him back to his earlier favorites, Rhythm and Blues. Michael's musical tastes and influences are ENDLESS to say the least. When Michael isn't playing 7&6 string guitar with his Brothers, you can find him doing the occasional studio sit in work, or entering guitar contests such as "Guitarmageddon." Mike also loves to play the Drums, Slide Mandolin, and just about any musical instrument he can get his hands on.
